The Asia Europe People’s Forum is an interregional network of European and Asian civil society organisations, connecting NGOs and social movements in both regions since 1996. At the heart of the network is organising an alternative forum (AEPF), held parallel to the biennial ASEM conference of Asian and European governments. Following AEPF9 2012 in Vientiane (Laos), AEPF10 was held in Milan in October 2014. AEPF is structured by an International Organising Committee (IOC) and two so called “Focal Points”, responsible for coordinating Asian and European activities respectively.
Stiftung Asienhaus has been a member of the IOC right from the beginning of AEPF. Taking over as the European coordinator of AEPF activities in summer 2015 (until 2017), it has been closely cooperating with other European and Asian member organisations and the National Organisation Committee of Mongolian NGOs to organise AEPF11 in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, in July 2016.
