Webinar: Towards Decolonizing Filipin@-German Solidarity and Cooperation
What assumptions and motivations underlie the work of solidarity? Where in solidarity, educational, and campaign work do dominant power structures manifest and how do they shape the understanding of solidarity? How do these assumptions and motivations inform and mould the work of solidarity and development? What needs to be done to decolonize solidarity work? And, what changes are needed on a personal as well as institutional level?
This two-day webinar aims to raise awareness regarding discriminatory power structures in solidarity and development work between the global North and the global South; generate a critical self-reflection on solidarity, allyship, and development work being done on or with communities of color, with a particular attention to Filipino@-German solidarity work, to enable understanding and change; and explore ways of solidarity and cooperation that are truly equal in praxis.
The webinar is organized by the philippinenbüro and the Philippine Studies Series Berlin. It is sponsored by the Evangelische Kirche in Westfalen (EKvW), Evangelische Kirche im Rheinland (EKiR), United Evangelical Mission (UEM), and Umverteilen - Stiftung für eine Solidarische Welt.
