A life as a journalist in the Philippines - A conversation with Ellen Tordesillas
Ellen Tordesillas is rightly considered the 'Grande Dame' of Philippine investigative journalism. The fact-checking platform "VERA Files", which she co-founded, has identified the current president Rodrigo Duterte as the main source of fake news. In addition it describes the violent methods used against critical media representatives. The multi-award-winning journalist receives numerous death threats and is considered to be in danger. Thanks to the "Hamburger Stiftung für politisch Verfolgte", Ellen Tordesillas currently lives and works in Hamburg.
In a discussion with Christina Keppel from the Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte - Philippinen, she reports on her work and life as a journalist, on current political developments and perspectives for her country.
