This paper evaluates progress of the EU’s policies towards China in regard to climate change. It examines how China has responded to the EU’s expectations and concludes that tough bargaining strategies as well as genuine disappointment about the commitments of the West have prevented the EU to achieve its goals. Climate change has not become a game changer in the EU-China relations.
