AMP 2022 Report – Human Rights in the Philippines

In this year’s commemoration of the International Human Rights Day on December 10, the Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte-Philippinen (AMP) publishes its fourth human rights report.

The report describes the pattern of human rights violations during former President Duterte’s administration in the period between 2019 and 2022 in connection with exemplary cases. It highlights the bloody “war on drugs” as well as systematic repressions against human rights defenders (HRD), the political opposition, indigenous peoples, and the independent media. The report lists at least 85 extrajudicial killings of HRD and journalists between August 19, 2019, and May 31, 2022.

The report draws attention to the fact that the developments in the past years have emphasized the urgency for the Philippine government to take immediate and firm actions to hold perpetrations of human rights violations accountable.

AMP calls on the Marcos administration to take a strong stance on human rights, to acknowledge victims of human rights violations, end impunity, and uphold the rule of law.

If you wish to receive a print copy of the report (excl. shipping fee), please send an Email to info@amp.ngo.

The report is also available in German.

Member organizations of the AMP are Amnesty International Germany, Brot für die Welt (BfdW), International Peace Observers Network (IPON), MISEREOR, Missio Munich, philippinenbüro e.V., and the United Evangelical Mission (UEM). The main focus of the network lies the core human rights issues of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and fabricated charges against political activists.
