Nun folgt die nächste Klage: Auch noch gerade in Tianjin, wo erst im Oktober die größte Umweltkatastrophe den Hafen und damit auch tausende von importierten Waren, darunter auch VW-Autos zerstörte, akzeptiert ein Gericht die Klage der semi-offiziellen NGO „China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation“ (中国生物多样性保护与绿色发展基金会) gegen den VW-Konzern. Von den weltweit elf Millionen betroffenen Fahrzeugen sind lediglich 1.900 Autos über den Hafen Tianjin in China auf dem Markt gelangt. Der Kläger fordert eine öffentliche Entschuldigung und eine Strafe in unbekannter Höhe.
Environmental group accuses German car giant of breaking the law and worsening air pollution. Volkswagen is being sued by an NGO over nearly 2,000 vehicles it imported that were equipped with software the company has admitted allowed the cars to cheat pollution tests. A non-governmental organisation said a Chinese court in Tianjin had accepted its lawsuit against Volkswagen China, accusing it of worsening air pollution and breaking product quality laws. China changed environmental laws earlier this year to make it easier for NGOs to sue suspected polluters, and the legal action comes after VW admitted to faking emissions tests overseas.
